After months and months of seeing YouTubers go on and on about how great the Tarte Tape Shape Concealer was, I finally took the plunge and ordered it a few months ago and I completely understand what all the hype was about, it is one of the best concealers I have used so far!!!
It’s so full coverage but its not caky at all, it doesn’t crease under my eyes and it lasts ages, I find that you can also set it with either a translucent powder or a pressed powder and it works well with both, although if I am going to special event or “Out Out” then I prefer a translucent powder as I can bake with it and I feel this looks a little bit better and makes it last longer.
I absolutely love it!! Although it is expensive but in my opinion it is so worth it and feel like this is a must have for a make up fanatic or for Make Up Artist. I also use it as a base for my eye make and I normally set that with a powder too and it works well, it evens out my skin tone as my eyelids are fairly dark and gives me a good base to apply eyeshadow base.
One of the main reasons that I took so long to get it was because of the cost of it, if you go directly to Tartes website its £22 plus delivery I think that they included taxes and handling fees in the delivery price but I’m not 100% sure on that. The other place where you can purchase Tarte Products from in the UK is QVC, which is actually a great place to buy make up from, so I purchased it from them, it was £28.02 plus £3.95 delivery but it also included the Tarte Sponge which is valued at £14, when I purchased it was on offer on 3 easy payments so yes although £28 is a lot of money to spend on make up I felt that as it was split into 3 payments of around £10 over a 3 month period it didn’t seem as bad, plus I try and treat myself each month and get a little bit of make up so this was all I purchased during those 3 months and I have no regrets as the sponge is also one my favourites to blend out any of my concealers.

Then a few weeks ago Revolution released there Conceal and Define concealers which were hyped up to be affordable dupes of the Tape Shape but at only £4 is it really any good and how does it compare to probably one of the best concealers out on the market at the moment.
As soon as I heard that this was being released I was so excited and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it, and this was much easier to get hold of as they stock it at one of my local drugstores called Superdrug.
Choosing the right shade was what I found the hardest with this one and I wish I would have had the idea to take my tape shape to I could swatch side by side but I didn’t, so although the colour isn’t quite the same as my Tape shape one, but the shade still works for me. Ill include a swatch of them side by side!!

But the formula is very similar, it is very full coverage I would say that the Tape Shape is just a little tiny bit more full coverage but only by a very small fraction, I do also find that if I don’t set it straight away it can crease a little under the eyes, but if I set it then its fine, this is my everyday concealer as its so affordable and the results are almost the same as the Tape Shape, for special occasions I do prefer to use the Tape Shape as I like the finish and longevity of it a bit better.
The doffer applicator on both are also very similar they are both fairly big which I love as it just means thats you can apply enough product in one sweep.
So is it a dupe for the Tape Shape?
In my opinion yes it is!! Its an absolute bargain at only £4 especially considering how good quality it is!! I will also be purchasing more shades as I would like to attempt to contour with it too. I will also be purchasing the Tape Shape too but probably only in the one shade. I love them both and I used them both in the same way so for me its pretty close between the two of them.
So you if you don’t want or can’t afford to spend the £22 on getting the Tape Shape then I would definitely recommend the Revolution Conceal and Define as a very close 2nd best and for only £4 it is most definitely worth giving it a try.

Hope you enjoyed this post, and let me know if you have tried either of these or if there any other good concealers that you would recommend for me to try out!!
Thank you
Letty
